一昨日、パリ現代美術館のバスキアの特別展示を観てきました。彼の作品を生で見るのは初めてで、動かされました。そのコレクションが１００点。フランスでこれほど広範な彼の展示会は初めてだそうです。

ブ ルックリン生まれ、麻薬の過剰摂取で２７歳という若さで亡くなった彼。私が知っているニューヨークとは別世界だった７０年代後半／８０年代のまだダークな ニューヨーク。彼の思考回路、意図をたどろうと試みながら色々と考えさせれました。もちろんアートとしての色彩感覚、バランスにも魅了されました。観終 わったころにはバスキア・ワールドに吸い込まれていて、お腹がいっぱいでした。彼の人生を描いたジュリアン・シュナベルが監督したあの有名な映画を観たく なりました。すごく良かったです。

I went to see the Basquiat exposition at the National Museum of Modern Art. It was my first time seeing his work in person. It was certainly a very impressive and extensive collection. I was quite moved. Through his art, it made me think about the late 70s and early 80s in New York, which probably was a completely different world from the NY that I know. Of course his sense of color and composition was impressive. I definitely need to see the film by Julian Schnabel. Loved the exposition.
