着々と作業を進めながらバスルームのプランニングをしています。図面も何もなく部屋の真ん中にじっと立って考えて相談。私はすぐに平面図とかをスケッチしたくなるけど．．．ここではメジャーを持って想像と感覚です。アントワネットは1900年の部屋はこうしたいというビジョンがあって、アンドレは大工としての構造のリアリティを知っていて、私は両方を踏まえながら動線や収まりなどを考えて、みんなで意見を交換しながら計画しています。久しぶりにこうして色々考えるのが楽しいです。
Work continues in the '1900' room. No blueprints; no sketches - we simply stand in the middle of the room with a tape measure, a stick and a pencil, to plan the bathroom. Antoinette with her vision of how she wants the room to look, André with his realistic technicalities and me, incorporating both and trying to come up with the best solution. I love this process. It just brings me back to my architecture school days, but this time it's for real.
Now, we are grating the old, hardened seal of a vintage window frame, which we will use as a partition between the room and the bathroom. A slow process with tool maneuvering and patience but I love learning how to refurbish old things.
今はバスルームと部屋を分けるのに使うヴィンテージの鉄枠の窓の古いゴムパッキンを削り落とす作業。古くて固くなっているからこれもまたとっても地道な作業。これを削って新しいガラスをはめます。ヴィンテージのものを修復するには裏でこういう努力があったのね。
